GALENA, Ill. - Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa holds itself in high esteem, claiming to be the ultimate Midwest golf destination. Recent accolades heaped upon the course back up those assertions. The golf program is central to the resort and was recently named "Best Course in the State" (2008) by GolfDigest and "Best in the Midwest" (2007) by Travel + Leisure Golf magazine. Located 150 miles west of Chicago, this hidden gem is situated in the Mississippi River Valley's natural landscape of rolling hills and panoramic scenery. Truly a golf-lovers' paradise, the resort is home to four separate courses all designed by renowned architect, Roger Packard. A perfect marriage of natural landscape and exceptional design, the quality of golf speaks for itself. "We're very excited about the 2008 season, and look forward to serving our guests. We pride ourselves on our five-star customer service and hope our guests will find their experience to be very rewarding," says Director of Golf Erin Striek. Having just celebrated its 30th anniversary, the North Course's exciting terrain has not gone unnoticed. Open year-round, this course was designed for the true golf enthusiast. A technically challenging course, the South Course offers a scenic journey through some of the resort's best topography, with eleven out of the eighteen holes situated alongside a creek. The East Course is the only nine-hole course, and is a perfect destination for beginners, novices or families who want to simply experience a fun round of golf. For guests seeking the ultimate challenge, The General, appropriately named after former President and Galena resident Ulysses S. Grant, is just the way to do it. Two-time U.S. Open champion Andy North assisted architect Roger Packard in its award-winning design, which features large elevation changes and an exciting terrain. Although the resort is open year-round, the South Course opens March 28, 2008, followed by the East and General courses that open April 11, 2008. The North Course is open year-round, weather permitting. Rates begin at $60 on weekdays. For more information about Eagle Ridge please visit http://www.eagleridge.com/. |
