Golf Digest names Cog Hill's Dubsdread One of America's Best Print E-mail

Cog Hill's Dubsdread CourseCog Hill Golf and Country Club's Dubsdread, a Jemsek-owned golf facility and home course of the PGA Tour's BMW Championship, is ranked No. 45 among the 2009-10 Golf Digest "America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses." This is Cog Hill's 18th appearance on this prestigious list.

"This is one of the industry's most prominent rankings of golf courses and it is a great honor to once again be ranked in the top 50 of the greatest public courses in America," said Frank Jemsek , CEO, Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. "Since opening Dubsdread in 1965, we have provided golfers with one of the best daily-fee experiences in the country. And now this experience will be enhanced with the new renovations to the course."

2009 PGA Championship Announces Free Kids' Ticket Program Print E-mail

2009 PGA Championship HazeltineFollowing the lead of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters, the 2009 PGA Championship will welcome kids 17 and under accompanied by a ticket adult free of charge.

This year's PGA Championship, the last major of the calendar year, is scheduled for Aug. 10-16 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.

2009 U.S. Senior Open Crooked StickGroup ticket packages for the 30th U.S. Senior Open Championship, to be held July 27 – August 2, 2009 at Crooked Stick Golf Club, are now on sale. Groups can select from four ticket packages priced between $3,000 and $750. All options include complimentary parking and shuttle transportation to the main admission gate.

The first option, the Stars and Stripes package, provides eighteen (18) upgraded Pete Dye Club Weekly Tickets, six (6) preferred parking passes, eighteen (18) program vouchers and recognition on the championship Web site. The Stars and Stripes package is priced at $3,000.

Chicago District Golf Association set for Exciting Season of Tournaments Print E-mail

Chicago District Golf AssociationThe Chicago District Golf Association's 2009 tournament schedule is headlined by the 79th annual Illinois State Amateur Championship, Aug. 11-13 at Bloomington Country Club in Bloomington, Ill. The schedule includes seven association and four state championships.

"We're very excited about the quality of clubs we're able to provide tournament golfers with in 2009," said Jodi Ciotti, CDGA director of rules and competitions. "These courses should challenge golfers of all abilities that participate in our 39 events throughout the season."

Cog Hill's Dubsdread CourseCog Hill Golf and Country Club's Dubsdread, a Jemsek-owned golf facility and home course of the PGA Tour's BMW Championship, is No 1 on Golfweek's 2009 list of "Best Courses You Can Play" in Illinois. Pine Meadow Golf Club, also a Jemsek golf facility and located in Mundelein, was ranked sixth on the state-by-state "Best Courses You Can Play" list.

Cog Hill's Dubsdread CourseThe great Midwestern city of Chicago is home to a dedicated sports fan base knowledgeable in all seasons, including the long suffering North Siders who patiently wait for a late fall celebration to errupt on Waveland Avenue. It's also a beacon for social and cultural change, widely regarded as a hub of political activism and activity.

In the sports arena, the World Series drought of the beloved Cubs reached the cenutry mark as the boys in blue captured the Central division creating a glimmer of optimism, but again stumbled to the shagrin of their supporters still clouded by the Bartman hangover. However, the chance still exists that the eyes of the world will be simulataneously cast upon the Windy City. Chicago has been chosen as one of the final four candidates to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, and they only American city still in the running.
